E-commerce & D2C

What does e-commerce marketing involve?

E-commerce marketing brings buyers to your online store and marketplace listings, and makes sure each order earns money. Indian shoppers find products on Instagram and YouTube, check reviews on Amazon or Flipkart, compare prices on Google Shopping and then buy where it feels safest. The work covers Meta and Google ads, Shopify marketing and conversion fixes, marketplace listings and ads, creator content and WhatsApp and email flows after the first order.

Profit is the hard part. Cash-on-delivery refusals, RTO, discounts, shipping and gateway fees can turn a good ROAS into a loss. So performance marketing for D2C brands should start from contribution margin per order. We work out break-even ROAS, confirm COD orders on WhatsApp, push prepaid payments and flag risky pin codes. Online store marketing then puts more budget behind the products and audiences that earn a profit after every cost.

Why e-commerce & D2C businesses need digital marketing

Selling online in India looks simple from outside. Making it profitable is hard. A D2C brand pays for Meta and Google traffic, converts a small share of visitors, and then loses part of its cash-on-delivery orders to refusals and RTO. Discounts, shipping and payment gateway fees take their share too. A campaign can show a healthy ROAS while the brand loses money on each order. Our e-commerce marketing starts with your unit economics and puts spend on the products, audiences and pin codes that make money.

Indian shoppers buy across many places. They find a product on Instagram, read reviews on Amazon or Flipkart, compare prices on Google Shopping and may finally order on your website with a WhatsApp coupon. Myntra, Nykaa and quick commerce apps matter for many categories. We run your website on Shopify or a custom stack, manage marketplace ads and listings, and plan creator content. Each channel should support the others, and none should quietly eat into your margin.

Common marketing problems for e-commerce & D2C businesses

We start from the problems your sector actually has.

01

COD refusals and RTO

Cash-on-delivery orders that are refused or undeliverable cost shipping both ways and hold up stock for weeks.

02

Rising Meta ad costs

CPMs go up during festive sales and ads stop working within weeks. Without new creatives, acquisition cost keeps rising.

03

Marketplace or own website

Amazon and Flipkart bring volume but keep the customer data. Your own website needs traffic and trust before it converts.

04

Few repeat purchases

Many brands pay to acquire the same customer twice because there are no email, WhatsApp or loyalty flows after the first order.

What to expect, stage by stage

  1. Month 1

    Audit and tracking

We check your unit economics, tracking, Shopify speed and checkout. Meta Pixel, Conversions API and GA4 events are fixed so ad platforms get clean data.

  2. Months 2-3

    Creative testing

New hooks, UGC and formats are tested every week on Meta. Google Shopping and Performance Max are set up for profitable SKUs, and COD confirmation goes live.

  3. Months 4-6

    Scale what earns

Budget moves to the products, audiences and pin codes that make money after RTO. Amazon and Flipkart ads are managed on ACOS and total sales.

  4. Month 6+

    Retention and margin

Win-back, replenishment and loyalty flows raise repeat orders. Festive sales are planned around stock and margin, with contribution margin reported every month.

FAQs

Questions about e-commerce marketing

Still unsure? Call +91 70180 62319 or message us on WhatsApp.

How do you reduce RTO on COD orders?

We confirm COD orders on WhatsApp before dispatch and offer a small incentive for prepaid payment. High-risk pin codes and repeat refusers are flagged. Targeting is tightened toward audiences that usually accept deliveries. We also check ads and product pages, because over-promising is a common reason customers refuse the parcel at the door.

Should a D2C brand sell on Amazon or only on its own website?

Most brands do better with both. Marketplaces bring customers who already trust the platform. Your website gives you margin, customer data and repeat business. The right split depends on your category, pricing and operations. We usually run both together, using pricing and website-only bundles so the two channels do not undercut each other.

What ROAS should we expect from e-commerce marketing?

There is no single right number. The ROAS you need depends on your gross margin, average order value, RTO rate and repeat rate. We first work out your break-even ROAS and then set targets above it. A lower ROAS can be fine for new customers if they come back and buy again.

Do you only work on Shopify?

Shopify is the platform we use most, and Zenspire Media is a Shopify Partner. We also work with WooCommerce, Magento and custom stacks. Whatever the platform, the basics are the same. Tracking has to be clean, the site has to be fast, and checkout has to work on budget phones and patchy mobile networks.

How do you use influencers in e-commerce marketing?

We pick creators whose audience matches your buyer, which is often more useful than a big follower count. They make honest reviews and try-ons, and with their permission we run that content as ads. Every creator gets a trackable link or code. All paid content follows ASCI disclosure rules.
